Announcing the official arrival of monsoon in Gujarat from June 11, the meteorological department said it has forecast rains for the next five days in Saurashtra and South Gujarat.
The monsoon will arrive in the whole of Maharashtra in two days. On the other hand, the possibility of rainy weather for five days has also been considered, due to which light to moderate rains are forecast in many areas for another five days.
On June 10, due to activation of a low pressure system in the Bay of Bengal, it will rain in Gujarat via Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh.
So there is a possibility of good rains in South Gujarat including Surat between 11th and 13th. Cyclonic circulation has been activated in South-West Rajasthan at present due to which Gujarat is experiencing hot winds with increasing heat and bubbling.
The low pressure will be active in the Bay of Bengal from June 11, due to which the monsoon is likely to start in South Gujarat by June 14 and in Gujarat between June 15 and 25, the meteorological department said.
The meteorological department has forecast for Daman, Anand, Kheda, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Rajkot, Kutch and Diu on Thursday.
